Two player care tools every account comes with

A time reminder and a Take a break setting sit in every Starvellan account. This is how each one works.

The door of the Starvellan observatory at night

Starvellan is free and nothing here is played for money, but time still counts. Casino-style games are built to hold your attention, and it is easy to look up from the screen and find the evening has gone. So each account includes two player care tools, and this post explains both.

The time reminder

The reminder keeps count of how long you have spent on the site during the current visit. When the set time comes round, a short check-in appears telling you how many minutes you have been here, with a choice between carrying on and opening your player care settings.

Choose every 30, 60 or 90 minutes, or turn it off. New accounts are set to 60 minutes. The count belongs to the open tab, so if you close it and return later, the count starts again.

Take a break

Take a break pauses every game on your account for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. While it runs, each game shows a pause screen instead of the board, together with the time the break ends. A break cannot be cut short. The rest of the site stays open, so you can still read the Help centre or change your settings.

It is worth considering if you notice you are playing for longer than you meant to, if you are playing to take your mind off something, or if you would simply like some time away.

Good to know

  • Both tools belong to your account, so they are stored in your browser along with it and apply to that account on that browser.
  • Guests in demo mode do not have these settings, because nothing in demo mode is saved.
  • Both are under Player care in your account, and you can change the reminder at any time.

Help outside Starvellan

Our tools are about time spent on this site. If gambling anywhere else is worrying you, free and confidential help is available. The National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare, answers on 0808 8020 133 at any hour. GAMSTOP lets you exclude yourself from online gambling sites licensed in Great Britain, Gordon Moody and Gambling Therapy offer specialist support, and the NHS runs gambling clinics. Our Safer play page has the details.
