Inside the Orbit meter: four milestones, one player
Your Orbit meter moves a little with every round you play and pays Glints at four milestones. Here is the whole mechanism.
Of the four instruments in the Observatory, the Orbit meter is the one we are asked about most. It is a progress meter that belongs only to your account, and it moves forward a little every time you play. This is the full explanation, with nothing held back.
What moves it
Each round adds 2% of the Glints you staked. A 100-Glint spin moves the meter by 2; a 500-Glint spin moves it by 10. The game you choose and the result of the round make no difference, only the size of the stake. Demo rounds never move it, because nothing in demo mode is saved.
The four milestones
The meter has four milestones. When it passes one, you can collect Glints in the Observatory:
- First milestone at 2,000: collect 1,000 Glints.
- Second milestone at 6,000: collect 2,500 Glints.
- Third milestone at 15,000: collect 6,000 Glints.
- Fourth milestone at 40,000: collect 15,000 Glints.
Each milestone is counted from where the previous one ended. When you collect, that milestone's amount is taken off the meter and anything beyond it carries forward towards the next one. Once the fourth has been collected, the circuit begins again at the first.
Reaching the first milestone takes 100,000 Glints of play in total, so the meter is meant to creep forward over many evenings. It is something to glance at now and then, not something to race.
What it is not
We designed the Orbit as a personal meter on purpose. Nobody else's play adds to it or takes away from it, there is no shared pool, and there is no draw to decide who gets what. It never drains while you are away; your progress simply waits for you.
The Glints it hands out are like every other Glint on Starvellan: no cash value, and no way to withdraw, transfer or exchange them.
Where to find it
A slim version of your Orbit sits in the player bar at the foot of every page, and the full meter, with its Collect button, lives on the Orbit page in the Observatory. If you have not joined yet, an account is free and starts with 25,000 Glints.
