Keeping the games in their orbit
There is no money anywhere on Starvellan. Casino-style games are still built to hold your attention, though, so it pays to notice how they fit around the rest of your life. Below are the tools on your account, some habits worth keeping, and where to turn for proper support.

1. No money, still worth watching
Nothing on Starvellan can be staked with money, bought, or won with any value attached; Glints are a score and only a score. That takes away the financial risk, but not every risk. Turning reels, instant results and climbing levels can quietly swallow an evening, and for some people a game like this can wake up the pull towards real gambling.
One thing deserves saying clearly. Your results here tell you nothing about how you would fare with real stakes. Playing or success in social casino gaming does not imply future success at real-money gambling. These games are made for entertainment; real gambling is something else entirely.
2. Your player care tools
Two tools come with every account, and both can be changed whenever you like in your player care settings:
- Time reminder. A quiet note telling you how long you have been playing, every 30, 60 or 90 minutes, or switched off. New accounts start on 60 minutes. The note lets you carry on or go straight to your player care settings.
- Take a break. Pauses every game on your account for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days, and cannot be ended early. During a break each game shows a pause screen in place of the board, while the rest of the site, this page included, works as usual.
As your account is held in your browser, these tools cover your account in that browser. For wider blocking of gambling sites and apps, look at GAMSTOP and Gamban in the list below.
3. Habits that help
- Settle on how long you will play before you begin, and set the time reminder to suit.
- Play when you feel fine, not as a way out of stress, boredom or a low mood.
- Step away often: stretch, drink some water, rest your eyes.
- Every round is random. A run of good or poor results has no bearing on the next one.
- Let Starvellan be one pastime among several, and make time for the people and things you care about.
- If you catch yourself wanting to try gambling with real money, treat it as a cue to stop for a while, not as the next step.
4. Signs to take seriously
Consider a break, or a conversation with someone, if you find that you:
- keep playing well past the time you intended, or struggle to stop;
- feel on edge, short-tempered or flat when you are not playing;
- play to push problems away or to lift your mood;
- lose sleep, or let play crowd out work, study, family or friends;
- keep how much you play hidden from people close to you;
- feel pulled towards real-money gambling, or already spend more on it than you can afford.
Recognising any of these says nothing bad about you. They are common, and the support below is free and confidential.
5. Adults only
Starvellan is only for adults aged 18 or over who live in the UK. Every visitor is asked to confirm their age first, and anyone who answers that they are under 18 is shown a screen that shuts the site to them. Joining requires a date of birth, and no account is created for anyone under 18. We do not market to children, and neither our games nor our characters are designed for them.
If children use the same device, sign out when you finish and think about the parental controls in your device, browser and broadband. Internet Matters publishes free, step-by-step guides to setting them up.
