Spin the Compass Wheel

Vela keeps an old brass compass dial in the Observatory. Each of its eight points carries a number of Glints between 500 and 10,000. While the wheel is awake you can spin it once; it slows, the needle settles on a point, and those Glints go onto your account.

Once spun, the wheel rests for a few hours and then wakes by itself. You will not find a countdown, and staying away costs you nothing: an awake wheel simply waits for your next visit, however long that takes.

The larger values come up less often than the smaller ones. Each spin is drawn by the same cryptographic random generator as the games, which means your level, your balance and your earlier spins have no say in where it lands. Guests can take a demo spin to see it move; the result appears but is not saved.
